JUST ATOP THE VINTAGE GREEN SERVER SITS THE ROSEMARY PLANT THAT WAS IN THE GARDEN LAST SUMMER ......TRANSPLANTED FROM THE PICNIC TABLE TO THE BRIGHT SUNNY WINDOW IN THE KITCHEN LAST OCTOBER WITH THE HOPE THAT IT WOULD SURVIVE THE WINTER ......WHAT A BEAUTIFUL HERB IT IS ......LUSH GREEN CONIFEROUS STEMS WITH A SCENT THAT LINGERS AROUND THE TABLE EVERY TIME THE HEAT COMES UP ......SUCH AN ESSENTIAL KITCHEN HERB ROSEMARY IS ......IT SERVES A PURPOSE IN MANY A DISH FROM CHICKEN AND PORK TO BUTTERED CARROTS AND ROASTED NEW POTATOES ......WITH THE ANTICIPATION THAT THIS PLANT WOULD LIVE THROUGH THE DETRIMENTS OF THE WINTER SEASON , HAPPINESS COULD BE FELT IN THE AIR TONIGHT......AS THIS
COLD AND DARK SEASON COMES TO AN END THE SCRIPTURE THAT COMES TO MIND THIS EVENING IS ONE FOUND IN THE OLD TESTAMENT , " See ! The winter is past ; the rains are over and gone . Flowers appear on the earth ; the season of singing has come , the cooing of doves is heard in our land ." SONG of SONGS 2:11-12 ......MISS ROSEMARY SITS ; AWAITING THE RETURN OF FRESH AIR & WARMER TEMPERATURES , HOPE HAS PREVAILED ONE MORE WINTER SEASON ......TO SEE THIS POT OF LIVING HOPE REMINDS ME OF THE HOPE THAT THE LORD JESUS GAVE WHEN HE BECAME THE LAST BLOOD SACRIFICE FOR ALL MANKIND ......GOD EXPLAINS IT BEST WHEN HE SPEAKS THROUGH THE APOSTLE PETER IN THE NEW TESTAMENT PROCLAIMING , " Praise be to the GOD and FATHER of our LORD JESUS CHRIST ! In HIS great mercy HE has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of JESUS CHRIST from the dead ,and into an inheritance that can never perish , spoil or fade - kept in heaven for you , who through faith are shielded by GOD'S power until the coming of the salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time . In this you greatly rejoice , though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials . " 1PETER 1:3-6 ......THESE WORDS , EVER SO TRUE , ASSURE ALL THOSE THAT PLACE THEIR FAITH IN JESUS CHRIST THAT HE IS THE LIVING HOPE THAT WILL SEE US THROUGH INTO ETERNITY ...... NOW THAT IS PRICELESS ....................................SUMMER
Amen Summer! Jesus is my living hope. Praise His Holy Name!!! :-)

ReplyDeleteI so appreciate the visits from each of you.....Ron i know you will have a great week because you love life and are where the sun shines ... Thank-you Donna and to GOD be the glory ...Amanda I am especially grateful for your compliments and welcome them any time ... At times during the day it is overwhelming to think of how much JESUS loves us and exactly what HE did for us and yet so undeserving are we all .....It was a rainy sunday .....The kind of day that called out for some homemade soup .....and tonight it will snow again...Oh spring where are you...Rest well !
ReplyDeleteYes, that is priceless. We can also be certain that heaven will be better than anything we can dream up! I love these verses! And your analogy regarding Miss Rosemary..."pot of living hope"!
ReplyDeleteA wonderful reminder of the life which springs forth from Christ! Our Living Hope! Thank you so much for your kind comments on my post. I'm so grateful to meet you, sister! What a wonderul name you have!
Thank you for your compliments and thank you for hopping on board .....I always appreciate waking up and seeing a new face .....We serve a very very magnificent GOD and yes heaven will be unimagineable..... Until then enjoy the day !!
ReplyDeleteI do so love rosemary. I used to live in a small townhouse in a very sketchy neighborhood without a yard. In order to try to make this place feel like home I bought some cheap planters and grew several herbs; one of which was rosemary. This made all the difference and the surprising thing is... they were very hardy. Grew easily and were little maintenance.
ReplyDeleteAlso, I love how you worked scripture seamlessly into this post. Artful and beautiful.
Thank you Hannah ..... Sometimes when i look at everyday things I think of these analogies and I am grateful that the LORD gives me the ability to put it into words ..... To HIM be all the glory !!
ReplyDeleteThat is priceless, Summer!! I am so ready to the end of winter too. Although we are expecting yet more snow tonight throu Wed. so I'm thinking Spring is a couple of more weeks away. Oh so much to look forward to every year! :-)

Well as for the snow .....It's here at my doorstep .....4 inches with a layer of ice beneath .....Growing up in the north kind of gives you thick skinin order to prepare for the winter every october or so ....Then as March comes in like a lion and goes out like a lamb I begin to get gardners enthusiasm and just want the sun to shine and the flowers to grow again .....What song is it that you like ?
